    • John (Private, Serviceman 21733) enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment but was discharged due to sickness on 4 January 1917. He was discharged with reference to Paragraph 392, section XVI of the Kings Regulations which states, "No longer physically fit for service". Other than his medal card, no other records have been found for his military service. He must have recovered because he later re-enlisted in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry.

    This photograph may have been taken around mid 1916. An enlargement indicates that Irene Kendall (front row), is holding a photograph of a sailor. Although the person in the photograph cannot be identified, it could be Nicholas Percy Kendall. Nicholas was lost at sea on 31 May 1916 when his ship, HMS Indefatigable, was sunk during the Battle of Jutland. Nicholas and Irene were 2nd cousins and Irene looks to be about the right age.
