1662 Initially employed as a "Temporary Greaser", by October of 1940, Thomas was an "Engine Cleaner" based at Gloucester station. On 28 July 1941, Tom became a "Fireman", a position he held until his resignation on 13 November 1946.
During the final year of his employment, Tom was cautioned, and eventually suspended, for being absent from duty on 21 occasions during May and June 1946 and for further absences during July and August of the same year.
