Media NotesPercy enlisted for a 12 year term and was almost immediately posted to HMS "Vivid II" This was the Royal Naval Barracks at Devonport, Plymouth. Percy was there from 24 Jan 1913 until 16 Jun 1916, probably for his basic training. On departure, he held the rank of Stoker, Second Class.

On 17 Jun 1913, Percy began service on board HMS "Indefatigable". Still serving on the "Indefatigable", Percy was promoted to Stoker, First Class on 20 Nov 1913, the position he held until the ship was sunk by enemy action on 31 May 1916.
